Sustainable Forest Management

Overview · Our Commitment · Our Actions · Public Participation · Links

Public Participation

The forest provides us with a livelihood and contributes to the well being of our communities. But it is also an essential factor in the lives of other users: various communities, Aboriginal peoples, outfitters, and those who enjoy outdoor activities.

Our policy of sustainable forest management invites public participation and open communication with all interested parties. This is why we consult with local and regional interests and with other forest users in order to take their needs and concerns into consideration when drawing up our management plans.

Dialogue with communities and stakeholders

We value sharing information about our practices and do so through mill tours, field trips and forest tours for journalists, scientists, students and teachers. We encourage the general public to take advantage of these opportunities also. In many locations, we maintain self-guided walking trails for the use and enjoyment of all.

We meet regularly with groups who share in the use of forest resources and engage in dialogue with special interest groups. Because we believe the needs of different forest users need to be brought into harmony, we participate in public information sessions, and in public consultations on topics such as short- and long-term planning.
