Your opinion matters
We would like to know how you feel about issues related to sustainable forest management in the Abitibi forest. What values are important for the management of the forest? What should the forest look like in the future? How should sustainability be measured? Your opinion can help shape the future. Please take the time to answer our public opinion survey.
You can also send us your comments at any time. Comments received will be considered during our management reviews and, when possible, integrated into our next General Forest Management Plan (GFMP 2005-2030).
Audit
Quality Management Institute (QMI), North America's leading management systems registrar, conducted an audit to determine if the Environmental Management System (EMS), including the SFM plan, meets all the requirements of standard CAN/CSA Z809-02.
Annually, a certified third-party auditor is required to review our SFM plan to ensure compliance with the various SFM requirements and specifications. The certification must be renewed every three (3) years.

Forest management plan of the Abitibi woodlands operations
Several of the requirements of standard CAN/CSA Z809-02 are already addressed in the current general plans. The values, objectives, indicators and targets for the defined forest area were therefore first established by conducting an inventory of the elements covered by the GFMPs for 1999-2004. The sustainable forest management elements not covered by these plans were then developed through public participation.
